Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Whitehorse. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a critical role in conducting comprehensive site investigations, analyzing slope stability, and performing geotechnical analysis and design for various infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Site Investigations: Conduct thorough site investigations to assess geological and geotechnical conditions, ensuring that our projects are executed with the highest level of quality and safety.
  2. Slope Stability Analysis: Analyze slope stability utilizing advanced methodologies and industry standards, providing expert advice to ensure the stability and integrity of our projects.
  3. Geotechnical Design: Perform geotechnical analysis and design for various infrastructure projects, including foundation designs tailored to project specifications and site requirements.
  4. Construction Support: Provide expert construction support and guidance to ensure project success, conducting thorough site inspections to monitor progress and adherence to quality standards.
  5. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies to ensure the success of our projects.
  6. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, analysis, and recommendations, ensuring that our clients receive high-quality deliverables.
  7. Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior staff to foster professional development and ensure project success, demonstrating a strong work ethic and taking initiative to contribute as a team member or work independently.
  8. Communication and Collaboration: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration and documentation, utilizing problem-solving skills to address challenges and ensure project success.
Requirements
  1. Education: Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Geological Engineering from an accredited university.
  2. Registration: Meet the eligibility criteria for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Engineers Yukon.
  3. Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience specifically in geotechnical engineering.
  4. Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proactive approach to teamwork and collaboration.
  5. Continuous Development: Exhibit a strong commitment to continuous personal and professional development, including technical and interpersonal skills.
  6. Mentorship and Client Relations: Display enthusiasm for mentoring colleagues at various levels, such as EITs, GITs, and technologists, and excel in client relations, adeptly managing project deliverables within defined timelines and budgets.
  7. Driver's License: Hold an unrestricted Class 5 driver's license to facilitate project site visits and mobility.
  8. Safety and Sustainability: Uphold a firm dedication to safety protocols and sustainable engineering practices.
  9. Flexibility: Must be willing to work all shifts, including travel as required.
