Job Summary



This is a unique opportunity to lead the advancement of Indigenous health practice excellence at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre. The successful candidate will promote excellence in Indigenous health practice and quality of patient care, leveraging their expertise to drive positive change.



Key Responsibilities





  • Develop and implement strategies to promote Indigenous health practice excellence, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide leadership and guidance on Indigenous health care issues, ensuring that patient care standards and professional practice standards are met.

  • Cultivate partnerships with Health Authorities, First Nations Health Authority, and community partners to advance Indigenous health.

  • Collaborate with educators to develop and implement educational programs that promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.

  • Engage in knowledge creation and uptake, using current research and evidence-based practice to address professional, program, and patient problems and concerns.



Requirements



The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing or a related field, with five years of recent experience in Indigenous health and/or public health nursing in senior leadership positions or advanced practice roles. They must be eligible for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM) and hold current certification in CPR.



Preferred Qualifications





  • Extensive knowledge of Indigenous health care needs, services, and issues, as well as knowledge of culture, protocols, traditions, and ideology of Indigenous people and organizations in British Columbia.

  • Experience in teaching and program development.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Leadership, facilitation, and mentoring skills, with the ability to model problem-solving skills in a complex environment.

  • Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous health.
