Sanitation Operations Manager

The Sanitation Operations Manager will oversee the safe and efficient operation of our sanitation department. This role will lead a team of dedicated professionals to ensure our facility meets and exceeds all GMP and cleaning standards. The successful candidate will have excellent management and motivational skills, with a strong ability to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role will play a key part in ensuring proper waste disposal, adherence to environmental regulations, and the ongoing development of team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead sanitation employees in a 24-hour bakery production operation
- Monitor and enforce GMP compliance among all operators
- Ensure all employees adhere to weekly/monthly training schedules
- Execute sanitation cleaning plans based on established priorities and sequences for the bakery facility
- Work closely with other departments to achieve organizational goals
- Manage employee performance, discipline, and development, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Dispose of waste in a legal and cost-effective manner
- Ensure the facility meets all municipal and provincial wastewater regulations
- Train sanitation staff to handle hazardous cleaning agents
- Adhere to the master cleaning schedule
- Provide leadership and performance development to employees
- Be flexible with shift work and available for overtime hours
- Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities regarding food safety, legality, and quality
- Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are followed
- Oversee the Pest Control Program
- Perform all other duties assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in food science or a related field is required
- 3-5 years of management experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred
- 5-7 years of experience managing a sanitation department in a food manufacturing environment is preferred
- Good knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and Safety policies
- Must be organized, goal-oriented, and able to lead the sanitation department
- Flexibility with shift work is required, with availability for overtime hours as needed
- Proper understanding of WHMIS requirements
- Excellent attendance and work habits are essential
