We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

About the Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have experience in initiating and managing mechanical ventilation, as well as advanced airway management. They will also be responsible for delivering and managing oxygen and other compressed gases, aerosolized medications, and high humidity therapies. In addition, they will perform and interpret related pulmonary diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation in critical care settings
  • Provide advanced airway management, including endotracheal intubation and extubation
  • Deliver and manage oxygen and other compressed gases, aerosolized medications, and high humidity therapies
  • Perform and interpret related pulmonary diagnostic testing, such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulse oximetry

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. They will also participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of respiratory care plans.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Respiratory Therapist who is passionate about providing excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
  • Certification in CPR at NRP and ACLS levels
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The salary range for this position is $32.43 - $40.66 per hour, commensurate with experience. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Hours of Work

This is a permanent part-time position, working 60% of full-time hours (45 hours bi-weekly). The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.
