Job Summary

The Supervisor, Mechanical Operations, is a key member of the Rocky Mountaineer Operations and Mechanical team. This role provides oversight to the front-line skilled trades teams and is responsible for executing the operating plan, managing front-line trades teams, and assisting in project management for capital programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of skilled trades workers to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement metrics to monitor efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
  • Inspect work done and validate quality of workmanship through work order completion processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Facilitate goal planning and goal management for team members.
  • Manage workforce resources effectively to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety and performance audits to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Operational understanding of trades.
  • Relevant mechanical or technical certifications or trade school education is an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive supervisory experience in a mechanical maintenance or construction environment.
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent.
  • Qualification and/or proven knowledge in safe heavy equipment operations such as forklifts, cranes, etc.

Working Environment

  • Occasional travel required.
  • Rail industrial site that requires walking and sitting throughout the day.
  • 24/7 operation that may require varied work schedules.
  • Indoor/outdoor working environment.
