Clinical Social Worker, Secure Care Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Social Worker to join our team in the Secure Care Unit at IWK Health. As a member of our inter-professional team, you will provide screening, assessment, and individual and group treatment to youth who are in conflict with the law. You will also be responsible for case management and community liaison, working closely with justice service providers, schools, and community support services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide evidence-based treatment modalities, including CBT, to youth in the Secure Care Unit
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the inter-professional team
- Provide case management and community liaison services to support youth and their families
- Liaise with justice service providers, schools, and community support services to ensure seamless care
- Participate in the ongoing planning, development, and evaluation of Youth Forensic Services
- Masters Degree in Social Work required
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW)
- Minimum two (2) years clinical experience as a Masters prepared Social Worker working in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill using an anti-oppressive, harm reduction, evidence-based treatment modality (i.e. CBT)
- Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Children and Family Services Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada required
