Health Care Social Worker

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide a range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting psychosocial assessments and providing adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management.
- Advocating, educating, and collaborating with individuals and groups within the institution and community.
- Supervising undergraduate and graduate students in work placements.
- Providing consultation based on an advanced level of education, including an integrated knowledge of social, structural, emotional, psychological, and cultural factors that affect well-being.
We are looking for a licensed professional with a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, current registration with the NSCSW, and 2 years of related clinical experience. You should have knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and be able to reach a joint formulation with the client and family.
Key qualifications include:

- 2 years of related clinical experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
- Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family.
- Demonstrated experience integrating various psychotherapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing in both individual and group work.
- Advanced psychotherapy skills, including in brief therapies.
- Demonstrated experience providing group treatment.
- Ability to complete mental health assessments using DSM formulations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset.
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization.
- Demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
This is a permanent/part-time position, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $37.13-$49.05.
