About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a Correctional Officer to join our team at the Department of Justice Correctional Services. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for the safe and secure custody, control, and supervision of adult offenders in a correctional facility.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide dynamic supervision of adult offenders and ensure their safety and well-being.
  2. Manage the daily activities of adult offenders, including their living units, admission and discharge, and recreation.
  3. Participate in case management and provide support to adult offenders in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
  4. Assist in maintaining the physical plant and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  5. Communicate effectively with adult offenders, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require a High School diploma and 2 years of related experience. Relevant experience in law enforcement, security, or the military is considered an asset.

As a Correctional Officer, you must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment. You must also be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preference will be given to candidates with a related post-secondary diploma or degree, as well as those with experience in a computerized environment.
