Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orthopaedic Technologist to join our team at Humber River Health. As a key member of our Fracture Clinic, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of orthopaedic interventions, including splint/cast and dressings/bandages application, windowing/wedging casts, trimming, bi-valving casts, bandages, and splints.
  • Assist physicians on inpatient units and the plastics clinic with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, and fracture reductions.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' conditions and develop orthopedic care plans in collaboration with the family and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Process physician orders for diagnostics, results, and other medical procedures.
  • Document care provided in the patient record and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Provide education and discharge instructions to patients and families on orthopaedic treatments and follow-up care.
  • Maintain inventory of orthopaedic supplies and devices, ensuring equipment and supplies are adequate, in safe working order, and reported as needed for repair and replacement.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by identifying and reporting any health and safety concerns.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist program sanctioned by the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT).
  • Current registration by the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience as an Orthopaedic Technologist, including experience in performing orthopaedic interventions, assisting physicians, and conducting patient assessments.
  • Knowledge of anatomical structures, orthopaedic conditions, casting, and related orthopaedic technologies.
  • Excellent customer service, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
