Job Title: Registered Orthopaedic Technologist, Fracture Clinic

Humber River Health is seeking a skilled Registered Orthopaedic Technologist to join our Fracture Clinic team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to our hospital's mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Registered Orthopaedic Technologist to work in our Fracture Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including:

  • Assisting physicians with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, and minor surgical procedures
  • Providing education to patients and families on orthopaedic treatments and discharge instructions
  • Maintaining inventory of orthopaedic supplies and devices
  • Ensuring a safe and efficient work environment
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing interventions focused on splint/cast and dressings/bandages application, windowing/wedging casts, trimming, bi-valving casts, bandages, and splints
  • Assisting physicians on inpatient units and the plastics clinic with orthopedic procedures
  • Developing and implementing orthopedic care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Processing physician orders for diagnostics, results, and other medical procedures
  • Documenting care provided in the patient record
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate of a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist program sanctioned by the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT)
  • Current registration by the CSOT
  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience as an Orthopaedic Technologist
