Job Description:

Calgary Co-op is seeking a Training & Development Specialist to support the design, development, and delivery of training and organizational development programs. The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education and 3-5 years of experience in human resources or learning and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement people development programs and initiatives to support employee and leadership development, succession planning, and talent management programs.
  • Develop online courses, workshops, presentations, reference guides, and other learning materials.
  • Conduct learning need assessments, identify gaps, and present recommendations.
  • Facilitate meetings, deliver online and in-person learning programs related to organizational needs.
  • Research and apply various learning technologies and methodologies to address development needs.
  • Evaluate learning solutions, including in-house and third-party training programs.
  • Provide consultative and advisory support to the business in learning and development programs.
  • Support the implementation of the training calendar, including liaising with facilitators, managing training registrations, answering inquiries, logistics, and planning.
  • Participate in the development and action of yearly competency performance work plans and development action plans.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), including participating in HSE activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with HSE policies, procedures, and legislation, assisting in identifying unhealthy, unsafe situations, and ensuring corrective action is taken.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education specializing in human resources, education, or a related field, combined with 3 to 5 years of experience in human resources or learning and development.
  • Knowledge in the areas of adult learning and instructional design theory and application.
  • Experience working with eLearning software and Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience providing advisory services to the business in learning and development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional consultation, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
