Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the YMCA of the National Capital Region as a Youth Recreation Specialist, working with children and youth in our recreation and sport programs. As a specialist, you will be responsible for creating a positive experience for program participants, fostering self-esteem, problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work in English and preferably bilingualism. Relevant certifications such as National Lifeguard Certification, Bronze Cross, Paddle Canada, CUI or other relevant certifications are assets.

About the Role
  • Ensuring that children and youth have a positive experience leading to personal growth through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs.
  • Fostering self-esteem, problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution in program participants.
  • Creating an atmosphere of safety, belonging, and positive development in accordance with Y policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Applicants must be 16 years old by June 23rd.
  • Semi-annually, staff must complete mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit a certificate of completion.
  • A commitment to the Y mission and core values of responsibility, honesty, caring, respect, and inclusion.
