Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth Probation Assistant in the Ontario Public Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the rehabilitation of youth and promoting positive outcomes in their lives.

About the Role

The Youth Probation Assistant will work closely with Probation Officers to assist in the development and implementation of case plans for youth. This will involve conducting intake interviews, gathering information from community agencies, and coordinating placements under the guidance of the Provincial Director. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess a strong understanding of social work principles and cognitive behavioural interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Probation Officers in maintaining client logs, preparing custody packages, and liaising with facilities and probation staff
  • Work directly with youth to assist in their rehabilitation
  • Complete administrative duties, including intake interviews, and collecting and updating client data
  • Assist in the facilitation of custody placements, including working with community agencies and coordinating placements under the guidance of the Provincial Director
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A strong understanding of social work principles and cognitive behavioural interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)
