About the Role:

As a Regulatory Department Director, you will be responsible for monitoring new regulations and determining their impact on our operations. You will also supervise and ensure harmonization of minimum personnel requirements for ongoing operations and special projects. Additionally, you will participate in the development and implementation of training and evaluation following ISM standards, Transport Canada requirements, Classification Society, OCIMF, and other company-established procedures.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Monitoring new regulations and determining their impact on our operations.
  • Supervising and ensuring harmonization of minimum personnel requirements (for ongoing operations and special projects).
  • Participating in the development and implementation of training and evaluation following ISM standards, Transport Canada requirements, Classification Society, OCIMF, and other company-established procedures.
  • Establishing and participating in working committees related to the development of regulatory compliance and other relevant projects for the division.
  • Overseeing files submitted to Transport Canada regarding the need for office decisions and exemptions.
  • Preparing investigation reports on maritime incidents or accidents and submitting them to the appropriate authorities.
  • Planning internal and external safety management system audits for the company's fleet of vessels.
  • Managing the personnel under your supervision. Participating and supporting the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Marine certification relevant to the position.
  • A major in marine transportation and/or an advanced certificate (an important asset).
  • A minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience in the maritime field.
  • Good knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of the following regulations: CSA 2001 SOLAS MARPOL ISM- ISPS OCIMF Classification Societies.
  • A sense of priorities, excellent analytical skills, and autonomy.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.

We Offer:

Competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
