Job Summary:

OPTrust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our AI and Data Science initiatives. As Director, AI and Data Science, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced machine learning models and data analytics infrastructure to support our investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and development of machine learning models and data analytics infrastructure to support investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI and data science capabilities into our investment processes.
  • Develop and manage quantitative investment strategies leveraging machine learning models and data science techniques.
  • Implement rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI models.
  • Promote AI and data science capabilities within the organization and foster knowledge transfer.
  • Partner with internal and external technical thought leaders to develop a clear and value-driven vision for AI capabilities.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on their professional development.

Requirements:

  • Proven academic research or industry experience in strategy development, portfolio management, quantitative analysis, or a related role in the financial industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and willingness to take a hands-on approach in research and project management.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with alternative data, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or natural language processing (NLP).
  • Experience with big data technologies and platforms such as cloud-based computing and data storage solutions.
