CB Canada is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in establishing and maintaining robust data governance practices across the organization.

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, standards, and processes related to data management. You will work closely with various teams, including IT, business units, and stakeholders, to ensure compliance with data governance principles and best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate issue resolution sessions with IT teams.
  • Implement master/reference data management policies, standards, and processes.
  • Define the data management workflows for data governance and data quality management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the implementation of data governance principles, policies, and standards across different business lines and corporate functions.
  • Act as a single point of contact for interactions related to data governance between line of business/corporate function, Information Management, and IT groups.
  • Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and adaptability in problem-solving.
  • Possess deep knowledge of data governance practices and data management processes.
  • Have a strong understanding of industry-recognized DG frameworks, such as DAMA, DCAM, and TDWI's DG.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication (written/verbal), teamwork, coordination, and consensus-building skills.
  • Leverage technical expertise to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Utilize leadership abilities to make informed decisions involving uncertainty, providing clear rationale based on available information.
  • Experience with data governance, quality, cataloguing, and data lifecycle management tools (Collibra).
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 2-3 years of end-to-end data management and governance experience.
  • Experience working within environments with multiple data repositories, systems, architectures, vendors, and business lines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Financial Services, Data Management & Governance, Data Security & Privacy, and Data Risk management.
  • Experience with data governance, quality, cataloguing, and data lifecycle management tools (Collibra).

A Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a quantitative area, professional financial designation, or MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
