About the Role

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Simon Fraser University is seeking an experienced and organized individual to fill the role of Executive Assistant to the Department Chair and Program Director. This is a critical position that requires a high level of discretion, maturity, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Department Chair and Program Director, including scheduling appointments, coordinating events, and preparing correspondence.
  • Assist with faculty and instructor recruitment, tenure and promotion, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, including processing invoices and reconciliations.
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
Requirements
  • High school graduation and one-year post-secondary education with courses or formal training in office procedures, secretarial practices, and software applications.
  • Three years of related experience in an administrative role.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
