Overview

Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC), a subsidiary of Medavie Health Services, is a leading provider of emergency medical services in Nova Scotia. As a Patient Experience and Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the organization's patient safety and experience initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare and leadership experience in patient safety or quality improvement. A degree in a health-related discipline is required, and certification in patient safety or quality improvement is an asset.

Responsibilities

This position entails:

  • Patient Experience
    • Support the organization in improving patient experience
    • Lead the development of the Patient and Family Partnership Council
  • Patient Relations
    • Communicate with patients and families who require additional support
    • Investigate service inquiries and care received within the EHS system
  • Collaboration
    • Develop relationships with community groups to identify unique care needs
    • Collaborate on organizational policies and guidelines impacting patient safety
  • Patient Safety Issues Management and Incident Analysis
    • Monitor and report on occurrences and inquiries that impact patient safety
    • Investigate patient safety issues and develop recommendations
  • Patient Safety Education
    • Deliver education on patient safety and experience to front-line staff
    • Present patient safety information at Morbidity and Mortality sessions
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Progressive leadership experience in healthcare
  • A strong background in patient safety or quality improvement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with database management and electronic patient care records
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000-$115,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, EMC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
