Medavie Health Services is a leading healthcare provider that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport, and medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness.

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Patient Safety and Experience Lead to support our Patient Safety and Patient Experience initiatives focused on the EHS system. The incumbent will be responsible for fostering a culture of person-centered care while ensuring an organizational focus on patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead both prospective and retrospective analyses using existing methodology for incident analysis, quality reviews, and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA). Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with EMC leaders in the development of organizational policies impacting patient safety.
    • Develop relationships with community groups to identify unique care needs.
    • Participate in or facilitate key committees related to patient safety.
  • Prospective Risk Analysis:
    • Lead the organization through Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Patient Safety Issues Management and Incident Analysis:
    • Monitor and report on all occurrences impacting patient safety.
    • Lead investigations for patient safety issues.
  • Patient Safety Education:
    • Lead and deliver education on patient safety and experience.
    • Collaborate with Clinical Services to present patient safety-related information.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Education:
    • Undergraduate degree in a health-related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • Licensed to work or ability to gain licensure in Nova Scotia as a paramedic or other regulated health professional an asset.
  • Skills:
    • Computer literacy is required, including Microsoft Office applications.

Estimated Salary Range
$70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
