Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner to join our team in Southern Ontario. As an Environmental Planner, you will be responsible for developing and executing environmental assessments, impact assessments, and other approval and permitting activities for infrastructure projects. You will work closely with Senior Environmental Planners and Project Managers to deliver high-quality results and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement consultation programs, including public, municipal, regulatory agency, and Indigenous Community engagement.
  • Liaise with clients, local, provincial, and Federal agencies regarding permits and approvals.
  • Collaborate with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments.
  • Coordinate environmental specialists, including fisheries, terrestrial, noise, air, archaeology, and other experts.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on relevant legislation, including the Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act, Navigation Protection Act, and Environmental Protection Act.
  • Develop and write reports related to planning, design, and permitting.
  • Participate in study administration, including budgeting and proposal writing.
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to AECOM's Technical Practice Groups.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Urban and Regional Planning, or related field.
  • Experience with Class Environmental Assessments, Individual EAs, and other types of work involving planning, preliminary design, detail design, permitting, alternative delivery, and more.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to manage multiple assignments at one time.
  • Full or Provisional membership in a professional body, such as the Registered Professional Planner (RPP and MCIP), Canadian Environmental Professional (EP), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
