Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at GEI Consultants Inc. in southern Ontario. As a key member of our natural heritage team, you will work on environmental approvals for various industries, including land development, linear infrastructure, and resource extraction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects, track budgets, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with clients, approval authorities, and consulting firms to achieve project goals.
  • Collect information from stakeholders, design field programs to assess natural heritage features, and implement Species at Risk assessments.
  • Lead aquatic and/or terrestrial field programs focusing on reptiles, amphibians, mammals (bats), birds, vegetation taxonomy, wetlands, fish community inventories, and habitat assessments.
  • Work with technical staff to develop natural heritage assessments, inventories, and impact assessments, as well as prepare technical correspondence, Endangered Species Act permitting, and project reports.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental planning, ecological restoration, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Compensation Package:
  • Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
