Job Summary

The Environmental Advisor will play a key role in maintaining environmental compliance at our sites. This involves providing guidance and support to production teams and operational management on environmental issues and obligations.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide environmental advice and regulatory compliance support to production teams and operational management.
  • Ensure that management and supervisors are aware of site environmental regulatory requirements and procedures.
  • Conduct site visits and audits to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Prepare permits and licenses related to environmental aspects.
  • Develop and update environmental plans, procedures, and programs.
  • Act as a liaison for local, provincial, or federal regulatory groups.
  • Work with H&S to prepare response plans and ensure comprehensive support in case of EHS emergencies.
  • Participate in environmental input in site EHS activities.
  • Manage site-based environmental issues and monitoring.
  • Aid in collection of environmental data.
  • Prepare regulatory reporting activities.
  • Ensure proper chemical, radiation, and hazardous material handling, disposal, and reporting.
  • Investigate and manage external complaints relating to environmental aspects.
  • Aid in preparing and participating in Community Liaison Committee or other required committees.
  • Support buyers and commercial reps to answer environmental questions from clients or auditors.
  • Aid the ISO coordinator in implementing AIM's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Advise and support operations teams to cultivate a culture of environmental responsibility.
Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in environmental management or related fields.
  • University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in areas such as air quality, emissions, noise and vibration control, water management, and emergency response.
  • Experience working in industrial environments is highly valued.
  • ISO 14001 certification is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams and solve complex problems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver training sessions effectively.
  • Willingness to travel to various Ontario locations as required.
