Education Assistant On-Call Positions: Supporting Student Success

The Vancouver School District #39 is seeking highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistants to join our team as On-Call staff. As an On-Call Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, promoting inclusive learning environments, and contributing to the overall success of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Support students with diverse needs, including those with special education requirements, in a variety of settings
- Assist teachers and other educational staff in implementing individualized education plans and promoting student learning
- Provide personal care and support to students, including dressing, toileting, feeding, and lifting
- Escort students on community outings and travel throughout the city
- Collect data and track student progress, and assist in developing and implementing behavior support plans
- Completion of Grade 12
- Completion of a Special Education Assistant program or related field and over two (2) months of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Ability to independently lift and position students up to 35 pounds
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
- Ability to run after a student to avert them from danger
- Experience providing Intensive Behavioural Intervention on a Home Team
- A clear understanding of the theory and principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Completion of POPARD coursework
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (CPI or MANDT)
- Ability to speak a second language
