We are seeking an experienced Support Specialist to join our team in this vital role.

As a Support Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering care and support to individuals living in staffed homes within their community. You will work collaboratively with the team to empower individuals to make informed choices about their lives, promoting their independence and autonomy.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring the rights and choices of individuals are respected and advocating on their behalf when necessary.
  2. Fostering positive relationships with individuals, families, professionals, co-workers, and members of the community.
  3. Participating in the development, implementation, and documentation of Personal Service Plans.
  4. Assisting with daily living activities, medication administration, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
  5. Providing emotional support and stability to individuals experiencing mental health needs.
  6. Collaborating with the team to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of individuals receiving support.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Grade 12 education.
  • A Community Support Worker Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in community social services or healthcare.
  • Certifications in Emergency First Aid/CPR and Food Safe.
  • Previous training in behaviour management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid restricted class 4 driver's license and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
  • Clearance for working with vulnerable populations.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status.
  • Moderate computer literacy.
