We are seeking an experienced Academic Child Psychiatrist to join our team at the CAF Health Services Centre, Montfort Hospital, Ottawa. As a member of our multidisciplinary mental health team, you will provide expert care to serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

About the Role

As a Child Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a variety of mental health conditions in children and adolescents. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing consultation services to Canadian Armed Forces personnel, advising on outsourcing psychiatry services, and participating in case reviews as a member of the multidisciplinary mental health team.

You will also prepare detailed written psychiatric assessment reports, including recommendations for treatment plans, and participate in the implementation of those plans by providing psychotherapy, prescribing appropriate somatic therapy, and generating patient medical records to support the team.

In addition, you will provide expert advice on mental illness or disorders to primary care providers to assist them in identifying, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental health disorders.

What We Are Looking For
  • Licence to practice medicine in Ontario
  • Fellowship in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Experience providing pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy to individuals, particularly children and adolescents
  • Experience working with mental health patients, with a focus on depression, anxiety, and trauma disorders

The estimated salary for this role is $250,000 per year, based on national averages for Child Psychiatrists in Ottawa. However, please note that actual salaries may vary depending on individual circumstances and qualifications.
