About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Youth Psychologist to join our team at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to children and youth living with complex medical conditions impacted by obesity.

Job Summary

This is a permanent part-time position working 0.9 FTE. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of specialists, including paediatric endocrinologists, general paediatricians, case management nurses, registered dietitians, exercise specialists, social workers, and child and youth counsellors.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to address binge eating disorder, body image disturbance, mood and anxiety issues, health behaviour change, and medication adherence.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals regarding assessment findings, recommendations, and implications for patient care.
  • Collaborate with schools and mental health providers to ensure appropriate referrals and support for patients' mental health needs.
  • Supervise pre-doctoral psychology residents and practicum students, and provide learning opportunities for student professionals.
  • Participate in program evaluation and research projects reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of our clinical services.
Qualifications
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • PhD in Clinical Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program (Essential)
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Psychologist in Ontario (Essential)
  • Designated practice as a Psychologist in Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents (Essential)
  • Experience in a paediatric healthcare setting (Essential)
  • Experience providing services to children and youth with complex medical and mental health conditions (Essential)
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals, and flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends. Bilingualism in French and English is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is approximately $110,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary, paid vacation time, and access to ongoing education and training opportunities.
