About the Role

The WHMIS Coordinator will assist academic and business units in the safe management of their hazardous products by supporting compliance with the legislated Workplace Hazardous Material Information System and the National Fire Code of Canada. This role will involve working with key stakeholders to ensure updated SDSs are obtained and distributed, creating and distributing workplace labels, managing hazardous product inventories, and providing assessments and recommendations for chemical purchases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure compliance with WHMIS and National Fire Code of Canada
  • Create and distribute workplace labels for hazardous products
  • Manage and maintain hazardous product inventories
  • Provide assessments and recommendations for chemical purchases
  • Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures
  • Educate stakeholders on proper chemical storage and handling
  • Write reports on deficiencies and provide consultation on remediation activities
  • Collect and analyze data on chemical storage practices and inventory management

Requirements
