Job Title: Director, Legal

About the Role:

MarshallZehr Group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Legal to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in leading, managing, and documenting our underwriting and funding activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in leading and managing the Legal team, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of our business objectives.
  2. Prepare regulatory documents related to funding loans and issuing advances, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  3. Manage all security documentation required to close loans and advances, coordinating with external legal counsel as needed.
  4. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Account Managers, Project Managers, and Analysts, to ensure seamless execution of our business activities.
  5. Support the Principal Broker in complying with regulatory requirements, as needed.
  6. Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Legal Analyst team, ensuring their continued growth and development.

Requirements:

  1. Outstanding leadership and management skills, with the ability to execute tasks and assignments with confidence.
  2. Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to Executive teams.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively correspond across all levels within and outside the organization.
  4. Superb time management skills, with the ability to prioritize between multiple competing commitments and deadlines.
  5. Experience presenting complex information to Executive teams in a clear, correct, and concise manner.
  6. Demonstrated ability to efficiently handle administrative tasks, multi-task, and delegate assignments as necessary.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and generally adept with technology.
  8. Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Law Clerk, Legal Studies, or Paralegal Studies is an asset.
  9. Will be required to obtain a mortgage agent license with FSRA (paid for by MarshallZehr, if selected).

Preferred Requirements:

  1. Experience in Mortgage Administration, Asset Management, Commercial Lending, Banking, Financial Services, Real Estate Law, Real Estate Development, and/or Underwriting is an asset.

Work Environment:

MarshallZehr offices are open Monday to Friday, with a minimum of 4 days per week on-site work and the option to work remotely 1 day per week, as agreed to by the direct supervisor.
