Legal Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our team in Calgary, AB.
About the RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for a student of law to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Legal Intern, you will assist in-house lawyers in providing legal support to the organization.
You will be responsible for:
- Conducting legal research and drafting documents, including letters, memos, pleadings, and contracts.
- Participating in project work of a legal nature and meeting with in-house lawyers and internal clients.
- Providing legal support and assistance in relation to applications, hearings, regulatory appeals, enforcement matters, contract reviews, and proceedings before hearing commissioners or Courts.
- Undertaking project work as directed, such as developing precedent banks and updating branch templates and resource materials.
- Data entry and retrieval of operational information.
- Preparing professional-looking presentations using PowerPoint, Excel, or Word.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A 1st or 2nd year student of a common law degree program at an accredited school in Canada.
- Completed coursework in administrative law, contract law, energy law, Aboriginal law, constitutional law, and civil litigation/process is an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate and detailed records.
- The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivation, willingness to take initiative, and a willingness to learn.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes.
- A self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively as a team player.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- A proven track record of good attendance and punctuality.
We offer a competitive salary range of $40,000 - $50,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, you will have access to:
