Job Description

**Job Title:** Indigenous Youth Care Worker

**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to fill the role of Indigenous Youth Care Worker at Dr. Kearney Middle School. The successful candidate will provide vital support and guidance to our Indigenous students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide individualized support and mentorship to Indigenous students
  • Develop and implement culturally relevant programs and activities to promote student well-being and academic success
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and community partners to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to parents and guardians
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in youth care and cultural support

**Requirements:**

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years university or college coursework in areas related to youth care and counseling
  • Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (15-hour certificate program)
  • Two years experience in conflict resolution, anger management, and life skills
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Level 1 First Aid and Food Safe certification
  • Proven knowledge and experience with Indigenous culture
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations in a professional manner

  • Ability to work with students with diagnosed behavioral or mental health disorders
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations
