Compensation Package

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus extended health care and dental benefits, a retirement savings plan with company contributions, a suite of Health & Wellness offerings, mental health programs and support for you and your family, assistance for the completion of industry designations, and competitive compensation.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Benefits Expert to join our team in Ottawa/GTA. As part of a dedicated, professional team, you will provide consulting services to and manage projects for medium and large clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability and special risk benefits for clients; including developing and implementing strategies and activities to support client retention, identifying the client's group insurance risks and recommending appropriate plan design and cost mitigation strategies, assessing, negotiating, writing reports and preparing presentations relating to group renewals, and being accountable for the smooth transition of benefits to new carriers ensuring any client risk and exposure is mitigated.
  • Act as 'second chair' for medium to large clients.
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables.
  • Develop annual client plans to ensure clients are receiving value-added service and that the work being produced aligns with client goals and objectives.
  • Participate in client calls and meetings as appropriate and assist with the preparation of presentations, documents, etc.
  • Manage client expectations and effectively deal with concerns or issues.
  • Mentor analysts/technical staff and other team members as needed and peer review work.

Requirements

To be successful as a Senior Benefits Expert with People Corporation, you will need:

  • 5+ years' progressive experience in group benefits in a client-facing or consulting capacity providing strategic and innovative solutions to clients' complex benefits challenges.
  • Deep expertise and understanding of the group benefits industry, including funding arrangements and flex programs.
  • Superior analytical and mathematical skills, strategic planning, communication, and listening skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude and strong team player who works well with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A solution and results-oriented individual who demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and provide deliverables as identified in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency and comfort working with multi-channel technology.
  • Completion of or the ability to complete the Life License Qualification Program (within 90 days of joining).
  • Availability to travel on an as-needed basis.
  • Valid Driver's License and Vehicle.
  • Group Benefits Associate (GBA) or CEBS designation or currently working towards it.
