Tug Maintenance and Operations Technician

Job Summary:

Océan is seeking a skilled Deckhand to join our team in Port-Cartier. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for handling cables of various sizes to dock and undock our tug and assisted vessels. You will also be responsible for maintaining our tug's operations and ensuring the safe transfer of people and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in tug maneuvers and ensure the safe operation of our vessels.
  • Ensure the berthing and departure of our tug and assisted vessels using cables.
  • Maintain the accommodations and bridges of our tug.
  • Position the gangway and ensure the safe transfer of people and equipment.
  • Connect ground power and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Clean, paint, and perform other required work related to the maintenance of our facilities.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in various tasks and support the activities of our Health, Safety, and Environment Management System.

Requirements:

  • Certificates of proficiency in Basic Safety, Lifeboat and rescue boat operating skills, and other relevant certifications.
  • A valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada.
  • A Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (RRO-M) and/or Bridge Watchman Certificate of Competency.
  • A Basic Marine First Aid Certificate.
  • A valid driver's license (class 5).
  • Autonomy and ability to work independently.
