Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deckhand to join our team. As a Deckhand, you will be responsible for handling cables of various sizes to dock and undock the tug and assisted vessels. You will also be responsible for all tug maintenance operations, including maintenance of accommodations and bridges, positioning the gangway, and ensuring the safe transfer of people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in tug maneuvers and ensure the berthing and departure of the tugs with the help of cables.
  • Maintain accommodations and bridges, including cleaning, painting, and performing other required work related to the maintenance of the facilities.
  • Position the gangway and ensure the safe transfer of people.
  • Connect the ground power (plug and circuit breaker).
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in certain tasks.
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

Requirements

  • Certificates of proficiency: Basic Safety DVS, Lifeboat and rescue boat operating skills other than fast rescue boats (asset), Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada, Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (RRO-M) (asset), Bridge Watchman Certificate of Competency (asset), Basic Marine First Aid Certificate (asset), Valid driver's license (class 5).
