Nursing Faculty Position

We are seeking a skilled nursing professional to join our team as a Faculty Member in the Health Care Aide program at Norquest College.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out instructional duties in class, lab, and clinical settings.
  2. Teach curriculum content from the Government of Alberta Health Care Aide curriculum.
  3. Plan for and develop materials for instruction in class.
  4. Demonstrate professional conduct and attitudes, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment.
  5. Adhere to health and safety, program, and college policies and procedures.
  6. Provide formative and summative feedback to learners in compliance with college and program policies.
  7. Provide initial skill demonstration in theory class, supervise lab skill practice, and assess clinical skills for competency.
  8. Proctor final examinations, grade assignments and input final grades.
  9. Maintain appropriate program and student records/reports of student progress in classroom, lab and, clinical settings.
  10. Implement Learning Improvement Plans after consultation with Program Chair or Associate Chair.
  11. Clinical setting:
    1. Provide clinical oversight in SL and LTC settings following Clinical Instruction Guide.
    2. Makes initial contact with facility after receiving notification from Chair or Associate Chair prior to students' first day.
    3. Arrange student orientation to clinical setting.
    4. Assign clients to students to meet expected program outcomes.
    5. Maintain student progress notes throughout clinical.
    6. Assess students based on the GLOs, SLOs, and Student Program Manual for clinical practicum.
Requirements:
  1. Currently a regulated nursing professional (RN, RPN, NP or LPN).
  2. Current Alberta nursing license and a good standing membership in CLPNA/CRNA.
  3. A Bachelor Degree is preferred.
  4. If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations.
  5. Clinical experience: at least one year (1500 hours) of full-time clinical nursing or nursing education experience (or the equivalent in part-time experience) within the last three years.
  6. Clinical experience in a rural setting is an asset.
  7. Ability to travel to multiple locations, which includes regional and rural sites.
  8. Current CPR.
  9. In the Health Care Aide program, we ask that you can commit to 2 weeks of full-time hours. Shifts can be days, Saturdays and evenings if necessary.
  10. Gerontology care experience is recommended to be successful in this role.
  11. Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.
