About the Role

SickKids Foundation is seeking an exceptional Associate Director, Granting & Hospital Relations to join our team. This is a critical role that plays a key part in planning, organizing, and managing the Foundation's hospital-restricted grant activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a dedicated team in collaborating with stakeholders across the Foundation and the Hospital to ensure the optimal use of donor-restricted gifts.
  • Oversee and monitor granting activity, supporting direct reports in conducting appropriate analyses and providing strategic recommendations to hospital stakeholders.
  • Manage the delivery of regular hospital granting education sessions and oversee the development and distribution of new or updated reference materials.
  • Approve grants exceeding $15,000, ensuring consistency, sufficient documentation, and adherence to fund restrictions.
  • Actively participate in the Complex Gift (CAP) and pod gift processes alongside direct reports.
  • Oversee the strategy to ensure timely granting of stewarded gifts, including notifying hospital stakeholders of newly confirmed or recurring revenue sources.
  • Lead initiatives to share clear and transparent restricted fund information and tools with Foundation staff.
  • Collaborate with fundraisers and the Campaign Team to vet potential fundraising priorities and assess proposed non-priority gifts.
  • Ensure the proper usage of gifts in compliance with donor agreements and restrictions.
  • Work with Finance to manage the fund designation and adjustment process, minimizing the number of restricted funds while ensuring donor restrictions are clearly understood and applied.
  • Provide direction on the structure and coding of gifts and transactions to fundraisers, gift administrators, finance, and fund clerks.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly facilitation of problem solving with those from diverse disciplines and seniority.
  • Strong analytics skills and reasoning skills.
  • General knowledge of scientific/medical terminology.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate complex activities, organize multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of health and health research sector; hospital operations.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced understanding of charitable accounting, in particular restricted fund accounting, particularly in environments of complex fund structures.
  • Ability to influence key decision makers.
  • Knowledge of charitable sector regulation and industry guidelines.
  • Strong Excel, database, ERP and Word skills; working knowledge of PowerBI and SharePoint.
  • High Attention to detail.
  • Conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • Consensus building skills.
