About the Role

MCK Temiskaming Shores is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy equipment fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diesel Engine Repair and Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, and air conditioning systems.
    • Diagnose and repair major internal engine repairs or overhauls.
    • Install and align engines and machinery.
  • Powered Equipment Repair and Maintenance
    • Repair and maintain powered equipment, including cable-operated working attachments, hydraulic-operated working attachments, compressors, pumps, telescopic ladders, and electric generators.
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts.
  • Mechanical Maintenance and Repair
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical transmissions, drive trains, and final drives.
    • Repair and maintain hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, and tracked vehicle suspensions and steering.
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on highway vehicle tires and wheels, off-road vehicle tires and wheels, and differentials.
    • Repair and maintain brake systems.
  • Workplace Safety and Health
    • Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.
    • Perform regular equipment inspections to identify potential hazards and take corrective action.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure seamless workflow and efficient problem-solving.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective equipment maintenance and repair.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
    • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Certifications and Licenses
    • Valid driver's license.
  • Physical Demands
    • Physically demanding work environment.
    • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
