Be the Spark that Ignites a Child's Potential
At the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, we're seeking a dedicated and passionate School Age Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment that fosters healthy development and growth in children.
About the Role:
- Provide exceptional care and support to children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Develop and implement engaging play-based learning activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
- Build strong relationships with families, staff, and volunteers, ensuring open and effective communication.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment, supporting the needs of all children, including those with exceptional behaviors and additional needs.
- Adhere to work schedules, ensuring program ratios are maintained and providing adequate notice for unexpected scheduling changes.
Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check
- Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act
- Availability requirements: Monday to Friday, 35-40 hours per week, between 6:45am and 6:00pm, including split-shifts
- Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families, staff, and volunteers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities
- Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, year-round, in all weather conditions
- Registered Early Childhood Educator or actively enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program
