Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with corporate accountants to prepare and review tax returns, ensuring adherence to Canadian tax laws and regulations.
  • Manage accounts payable, collect and process invoices, EFT/Wire payments, and cheques.
  • Prepare credit card, accruals, and prepaid entries, as well as bank reconciliations.
  • Review and process expense reports for staff members.
  • Conduct research on tax legislation for each U.S. state and province.
  • Optimize tax compliance and reporting using QuickBooks and Excel extensively.
  • Implement and maintain financial software systems to enhance tax filing for applicable U.S. states and Canadian HST and Provincial Taxes.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax authorities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in Canadian tax law with at least 3 years of relevant experience in tax preparation and compliance.
  • Expert-level computer skills, including proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and master new systems quickly.
  • Previous experience in SaaS company environments is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-experts.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple deadlines and projects efficiently.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per year.
