Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with corporate accountants to prepare and review tax returns, ensuring adherence to Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Manage accounts payable, collect and process invoices, EFT/Wire payments, and cheques.
- Prepare credit card, accruals, and prepaid entries, as well as bank reconciliations.
- Review and process expense reports for staff members.
- Conduct research on tax legislation for each U.S. state and province.
- Optimize tax compliance and reporting using QuickBooks and Excel extensively.
- Implement and maintain financial software systems to enhance tax filing for applicable U.S. states and Canadian HST and Provincial Taxes.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax authorities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Proven expertise in Canadian tax law with at least 3 years of relevant experience in tax preparation and compliance.
- Expert-level computer skills, including proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.
- Ability to learn and master new systems quickly.
- Previous experience in SaaS company environments is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-experts.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple deadlines and projects efficiently.
