About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Support Coordinator to join our team at Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently and fully participate in their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Communication and Daily Living: Provide critical support to individuals who are deafblind, assisting with communication, daily living activities, and personal care.
  • Empower Independence: Foster a sense of independence and confidence in individuals, encouraging them to participate fully in their communities and make their own decisions.
  • Collaborate with Clients and Families: Work closely with clients and their families to develop personalized support plans, ensuring their unique needs are met and their goals are achieved.
  • Document and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of client interactions, progress, and goals, ensuring seamless communication with other team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field, with relevant experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE), with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Other Requirements: A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to obtain automobile insurance with a minimum liability of $2 million.
