About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Privacy Officer to join our team at the BC Centre for Disease Control. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the BCCDC Privacy and Access Committee by providing expert guidance and oversight on provincial initiatives and projects.
  • Develop and Maintain Information Governance Frameworks to ensure compliance with organizational, corporate, and governmental requirements.
  • Provide Expert Advice and Guidance to executive and divisional teams on information sharing plans, agreements, and privacy impact assessments.
  • Coordinate Data Governance Models for electronic public health and other information systems, ensuring alignment with Health Authorities, PHSA, eHealth, and MOH stakeholders.
  • Manage Data Access Requests and investigate breaches, complaints, and access to information and privacy issues.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Provincial and Federal Privacy Laws and policies, providing information and guidance to stakeholders on compliance and adaptation.
  • Identify and Mitigate Privacy Risks across all service lines, providing training and guidance to staff on avoidance and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide Work Direction and Guidance to consultants and staff on privacy-related project requirements.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Health Administration, Business, Information Management, or a related discipline, with 5-7 years of progressively more responsible information management experience.
  • Completion of the Information Access and Protection of Privacy Certificate Program is an asset.
