Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)Job Type: Casual, Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Temporary

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Northwood Halifax Campus. As a RN with Northwood, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to our residents.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver quality person-centered care: Provide individualized care to our residents, prioritizing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Coordinate plan of care and collaborate with interprofessional team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Perform administrative duties: Maintain accurate and timely documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients: Evaluate the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance their quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation: Record important information about our residents, including their medical history, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Address mental health and social issues: Provide support and guidance to residents and families dealing with mental health and social concerns.
  • Respond to complaints, concerns, and incidents: Investigate and resolve issues promptly, ensuring that our residents receive the highest level of care and service.
  • Establish effective relationships with clients and family: Foster strong bonds with our residents and their families, promoting open communication and trust.
  • Organize and ensure work is completed in a safe, timely, and effective manner: Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Establish and maintain a safe environment for clients and staff: Ensure that our facilities and equipment are well-maintained, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs: Accurately document important health information, including temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions: Identify and respond to changes in our residents' health status, ensuring prompt attention and intervention when needed.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions: Adjust care plans based on our residents' feedback and changing needs.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care: Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of care provided to our residents.
  • Maintain clinical skills as required and seeks learning opportunities to remain current: Stay up-to-date with the latest best practices and technologies, enhancing your professional development and the care we provide.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with the Province of Nova Scotia: Hold a valid nursing license in the province of Nova Scotia.
  • Minimum 6 months of related experience: Possess relevant experience in long term care, preferably with Northwood or a similar organization.
  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills: Demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, essential for success in this role.
  • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, decision making, group process, and directing and supervising others: Show ability to lead and direct others, while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis: Demonstrate reliability and punctuality, ensuring that our residents receive consistent and high-quality care.
  • Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics: Use safe lifting techniques and maintain a healthy work environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently: Take initiative, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently without supervision.
  • Knowledge of / experience with a Person centered care model of living: Familiarity with person-centered care principles and practices is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of the interdisciplinary team: Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to deliver seamless care.
  • CPR certificate required: Hold a valid CPR certification.
  • First Aid certificate required: Possess a current first aid certification.
  • Non Violence Crisis Intervention (NVCI) considered an asset: Have training in NVCI or be willing to complete it.
Estimated Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is between $55,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
