Key Responsibilities:
  • Staff and Operations Management Finance: Provide support, oversight, and direction to the FSS departments, ensuring adequate staffing and optimal operation in accordance with CRC needs and intention.
  • Accounting, Balance Sheet, and Working Capital: Oversee the general accounting function, lead the above-mentioned teams to maintain integrity of general ledger, sub ledger, and other books of account.
  • Corporate Accounting & Reporting: Ensure that the Society's financial records are maintained in compliance with Society policies and GAAP, responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.
  • Trust Funds Management: Lead and oversee the Trust Fund management process and the associate Revenue recognition.
  • System and Internal Controls: Accountable for ensuring that internal controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of finance and accounting experience with progressive responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and a professional Canadian accounting designation are required.
  • Experience providing detailed analysis of financial and operational performance.
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment is an asset.
  • Significant experience managing and leading people.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex issues in plain language to non-experts and the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management, planning, and implementation skills to prioritize, set, communicate, monitor, and meet objectives.
  • Proactive approach with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English and French required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple conflicting demands, ambiguity, and changing circumstances.

Working Conditions:

  • The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable.
  • Travel within Canada and internationally may be required.
  • Will be required to work non-traditional hours to meet the needs of donors, volunteers, and during times of a disaster response and/or appeal.
