Job Summary

As a Capital Works Technician with Webber, you will play a critical role in maintaining contracted assets, including bridges, culverts, roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, and vegetation. Under the supervision of the Capital Works Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring these assets are safe and in good condition for drivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain highways, roads, and bridges using heavy equipment and other hand or power tools.
  • Set up and remove traffic control in accordance with OTM Book 7.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including traffic control equipment, vac truck, boom truck, bucket truck, dump truck, excavator, and loader.
  • Work with concrete, asphalt, and steel, including welding, cutting, and forming.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Be available for emergency rail repairs, end treatment repairs, fencing, and any other emergency work.
  • Be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, and aerial platforms lifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Capital Works Foreman.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in bridge/road construction and maintenance.
  • Valid G driver's license and a good driving record to drive company vehicle. DZ is preferred.
  • Ability to attain a valid Ontario Class DZ license is an asset.
  • Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, and job-related aspects of Occupational Health.

Work Environment

The incumbent will spend time completing field work, working in various weather conditions, and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fume or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
