Capital Works Maintenance Technician

Job Description:
Position Summary: As a Capital Works Maintenance Technician at Ferrovial, you will play a critical role in maintaining contracted assets, including bridges, culverts, roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, and vegetation, ensuring they meet standards and contract conditions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain highways, roads, and bridges to ensure safe driving conditions using heavy equipment and hand or power tools.
- Implement traffic control measures in accordance with OTM Book 7.
- Operate heavy equipment, including traffic control equipment, vac truck, boom truck, bucket truck, dump truck, excavator, and loader.
- Work with concrete, asphalt, and steel, including welding, cutting, and forming.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Participate in emergency rail repairs, end treatment repairs, fencing, and other emergency work as needed.
- Be available for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work comfortably at heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, and aerial platforms lifts.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Capital Works Foreman.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Operate company/rental tools and equipment effectively.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and subcontractors.
- Perform basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Develop a high sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability.
- Recognize hazards in routine and non-routine tasks and take measures to avoid loss, injury, or accident.
- Communicate with colleagues and subcontractors, understand and follow safety instructions, and think clearly while focusing on safety.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the job.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years related work experience in bridge/road construction and maintenance (outdoor work preferred).
- Hold a valid G driver's license with a good driving record to operate company vehicles. A DZ license is preferred.
- Able to attain a valid Ontario Class DZ license, an asset.
- Complete training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, and job-related aspects of Occupational Health.
