About the Role

The Patient Financial Services Representative will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and collections for Embark Behavioral Health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient financial responsibility calls to educate families on the invoicing process.
  • Obtain credit cards or ACH information on file for tuition invoices and copay/deductibles.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices.
  • Collect payments and maintain accurate records and reporting on collection activities.
  • Email and correspond with customers to follow up on payments.
  • Negotiate with clients in non-payment cases to resolve billing and customer credit issues.
  • Ensure compliance with the collection policy while working to collect payments in a timely manner.
  • Make recommendations on adjustments, refunds, and outside collection activity in alignment with company policy and procedures.
  • Monitor assigned accounts to identify overdue payments; issue refunds on overpayments, process and review adjustments, and reduce delinquency.
  • Maintain account status records and collection efforts in a centralized note system.
  • Partner with the billing team to ensure timely billing to third-party payors.
  • Engage in the cash application process, ensuring all cash receipts are applied accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • Prior work experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably in a medical or behavioral healthcare environment.
  • Medical billing background a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software and familiarity with MS Excel, including strong analytical skills.
  • Strong and professional communication skills.
  • Skilled in negotiation and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Patience and ability to manage stress and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High School/GED required, Associate degree preferred.
