Job Summary

The Michael Garron Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Promotion Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Occupational Health and Safety department, you will be responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations and legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate health and safety programs to reduce workplace illness and injury
  • Conduct ergonomic risk assessments and perform job demands analysis to identify potential hazards
  • Investigate incidents and provide support to the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Design and deliver training programs to promote a culture of safety
  • Review and revise occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Labour and other external stakeholders to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Health Science related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of recent relevant experience in occupational health and safety
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating health and safety programs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a collaborative team environment
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional designation such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional
  • Experience with ergonomic evaluations and physical demands analysis
  • Knowledge of Parklane and RL Solutions software
  • Knowledge of N95 mask fit testing
  • Experience in facilitation, team building, critical thinking, and change management
