About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our team at the LCBO. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs that align with industry best practices and legislated requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy safety programs that identify and remediate root causes of injuries, illnesses, and near misses.
- Develop and implement standardized reporting practices for the LCBO.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities to eliminate or reduce risks across the hierarchy of controls.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders on occupational health and safety matters.
- Report to the Board of Directors on critical injuries and occupational illnesses, as well as health and safety metrics.
- Lead and coach a team of professionals to achieve excellence in occupational health and safety.
- Manage day-to-day health-related projects and activities, including the development and implementation of programs such as mental health awareness.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A post-secondary degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a unionized, retail, public sector, construction, or manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, OHRC, AODA, and applicable codes and standards.
- Good knowledge of industrial hygiene and ergonomics principles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hazard identification, including hazardous materials, construction, fire safety, psychological hazards, and environmental conditions.
- Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for facilitating training seminars, presentations, and preparing reports.
