Aird & Berlis LLP, a prominent Canadian business law firm with offices in Toronto and Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Patent Assistant Specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a 12-month contract position that requires a skilled professional with extensive experience as a Patent Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite applications, and have a proven track record of working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patent due dates and ensure timely follow-ups
  • Prepare and file responses to Office Actions
  • Coordinate the preparation of forms and application filing papers for Canadian, US, and PCT applications
  • Correspond with clients and provide them with regular updates on their matters
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports for clients
  • Process expense reports and maintain accurate records
  • Manage a high-volume workload with great accuracy and organization
  • Calendar management and coordination
  • Accounting and billing duties
  • Daily administrative tasks
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Patent Legal Assistant
  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION, PREFERABLY IN A LEGAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM
  • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
