The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Environmental Services Aide/Associate/Cleaner to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
About the Role- Clean and disinfect various areas of the facility, including patient rooms, clinics, nursing stations, waiting rooms, and public areas.
- Remove and handle recyclables, compost, garbage, biomedical, and cytotoxic waste according to procedures and regulations.
- Utilize cleaning chemicals and equipment as trained, wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
This role involves:
- Performing routine cleaning tasks, including surface disinfection, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing washroom supplies.
- Removing and handling recyclables, compost, garbage, biomedical, and cytotoxic waste in accordance with procedures and legislation.
- Operating motorized cleaning equipment and performing floor care duties.
- Attending staff meetings, safety huddles, education sessions, and training programs as required.
- Wearing required PPE and uniforms as needed.
- Performing other duties in support of housekeeping functions, as assigned or required.
- Completion of high school or equivalent education and training.
- Previous experience in a similar or relevant role is an asset.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, walking on uneven surfaces, reaching forward, above, and below shoulders, lifting up to 20 kg.
- Fluency in English for understanding verbal work orders, instructions, and written materials.
- Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Competitive hourly rate: $$24.00 - $30.75 per hour, starting at $25.00 per hour based on collective agreement requirements.
