Job Summary

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Environmental Services Aide/Associate/Cleaner to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

About the Role
  • Clean and disinfect various areas of the facility, including patient rooms, clinics, nursing stations, waiting rooms, and public areas.
  • Remove and handle recyclables, compost, garbage, biomedical, and cytotoxic waste according to procedures and regulations.
  • Utilize cleaning chemicals and equipment as trained, wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Responsibilities

This role involves:

  1. Performing routine cleaning tasks, including surface disinfection, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing washroom supplies.
  2. Removing and handling recyclables, compost, garbage, biomedical, and cytotoxic waste in accordance with procedures and legislation.
  3. Operating motorized cleaning equipment and performing floor care duties.
  4. Attending staff meetings, safety huddles, education sessions, and training programs as required.
  5. Wearing required PPE and uniforms as needed.
  6. Performing other duties in support of housekeeping functions, as assigned or required.
Requirements
  • Completion of high school or equivalent education and training.
  • Previous experience in a similar or relevant role is an asset.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, walking on uneven surfaces, reaching forward, above, and below shoulders, lifting up to 20 kg.
  • Fluency in English for understanding verbal work orders, instructions, and written materials.
  • Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
