Associate Director, Baggage Programs and Projects Lead

Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Baggage Programs and Projects will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of baggage services at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. This individual will be responsible for planning, delivering, and operationalizing baggage projects, while also developing contingency plans to minimize disruptions to live operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead baggage programs and project initiation and implementation in conjunction with other departments and government agencies
  • Develop the 5-year plan for baggage programs and services
  • Identify and implement new technologies to improve baggage processing and connection
  • Work with the Baggage Services Team to develop optimal baggage flows and processes
  • Act as a subject matter expert on baggage processes and software tools
  • Manage government agencies' baggage screening requirements and integration of new initiatives
  • Support regulatory and policy development for baggage processes
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans for baggage processes
  • Lead and manage the Common Handler service contract
  • Manage the implementation of Toronto Pearson Baggage Strategy projects
  • Define project requirements to accommodate growth and capacity
  • Assist in developing business cases to optimize baggage systems
  • Review and approve project management documents
  • Bring order and consistency to project planning and execution
  • Ensure targets are agreed upon and managed within projects
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Lead people by providing coaching, guidance, and development

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • 5 years of experience in a large airport, airline, or similar industry
  • Experience with management in a unionized environment
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance
